Hello List Members: I need help figuring out who the father of James Strong was. James was born in Champaign, IL 1834. He left Illinois and was in Oregon in 1860 at the age of 24 with Margaret J. Strong age 19 (born 1841) and two children George 6 yrs. and Josephine 3 yrs. Margaret J. was his sister. There is indication in the 1950 Champaign, IL Census that Mary (?) born 1813 in Ohio was his mother but the father was not mentioned. This Mary was 37 years of age in 1850. I am trying to find out more info on William Allen and Louisa York. They were married in Champaign Co. IL May 14, 1854. Can anyone find any info on them or their families. William Allen born 1834 in Indiana to David Allen (1808 abt in PA and Nancy Mathews (abt 1812). Williams siblings were Elizabeth, John, David, Henry and may be others. I Louisa Yorks father was James York both born in NC. Louisa was later Called Martha Louisa York. Louisa was born 1837. I found a land record for a William Allen in Champaign about that time. Not sure if it is mine or not. I am trying to find them where they were after they got married up until late 1800 to 1900. They were in Wa by then. Their first son John Henry was born in IL. in 1855 but where? can anyone help me. I am homebound caring for my mother with Alzheimers. We can't go anywhere so I have to do it all from home.
