I am looking for any infomation on my gggrandmother Rebecca McHenry Compton. I found her and 4 of her children on the 1880 census in Somer, Champaign, Illinois. She was married to Abraham Compton and some time after the Civil War he left her and the children. On his CW penison papers from 1898 under wife he states both dead. Family is not aware of any second marriage. Later on another penison paper he only lists Rebecca but no date of death. He died in Peoria and the lady that ran the borading house gave the infomation for the death cert. and did not list a wife. Their son Abram was my ggrandfather. On the 1880 census he is listed as Abraham. I have checked with IRAD and they have no cemetery record for her; family history says she died in Vermilion Co. only thing I have found there is their marriage license.
