Donald, Would the name Daniel GARDINER come to mind? He was the 2nd mayor of Champaign, IL, was a board member of the Univ. of Ill. in 1867 and was the proprietor of Daniel GARDINER & Co. Bank, which prospered after the closing of the Cattle Bank. Daniel GARDINER is one of my research topics and a relative. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
