Yes, I knew him. I was a small child (8 or 9) at the time my Grandmother and Aunt went to him for treatment. My Aunt had polio as a teenager (16) about 1925. She was paralyzed from the waist down throughout her life. She visited DR Smith (about 1939 or 40) and stayed overnight in one of the facility's upstairs rooms. She thought he was wonderful, her belief in him made her feel better. She passed away at the age of 87, a remarkable age for a person that had been afflicted with polio. The house that he practiced in, was amazing, Had an open stairwell etc. Is the house still there? In fact I remember that he treated me for hayfever.
