Looking for descendents of or info. on Laura E VAN MATRE SMITH (m J R? Smith) probably born 1860-1880, alive in 1925 Her children: Richard and LeRoy SMITH and Edith SMITH BURR of Champaign, Urbana, & Urbana RFD in 1925. My guess is these 3 were born 1890-1910. Laura Smith's mother Margaret L HELM VAN MATRE (sister to my ancestor Erasmus M Helm) died in 1925 leaving a will naming these people. Margaret HELM married Morgan VAN MATRE in 1860. Any information about this or other Van Matres would also be appreciated.
