Hi, I haven't done any research in Champaign County yet and hope that you might be able to point me in the right direction. I am trying to locate death information on my gg-grandfather, Alfred N. Beard. He came to Champaign Co. from Geauga Co., Ohio, in 1855 with his second wife, Orilla Smith, and three daughters. I last found him on the 1870 census index in Champaign Co. (A. N. Beard, page 238 in Rantoul Twp.) and have reached a dead end. Do you know where I could locate either death indexes or cemetery indexes for Rantoul? I assume he was buried in Rantoul as two of his daughters settled there (Lydia who married David W. Thomas and Abiah who married A. B. Phillips) as well as his nephew, James McLure Beard. I would be most grateful for any information you can give me.
