    3. Charlene, I don't recall giving you this information before and maybe we have the same person . I have a John Cloyd that married a second time to Malindy Jane Bailey on 10 Jan. 1854 in Clinton county IN.She is the sister ofWilliam Thomas Bailey and a lot of their people are buried in the Shiloh Cem. near Mahomet. I think it is also called the Bailey cemetary. I have the children of John and malindy Bailey Cloyd as Jesse, Henry, Ritchie, Thomas, Ellen, Esther, Martha, and Annie. I don't have who his 1st wife was or much on him but hope this might help. Even if they had a child a year he must have lived till 1862 or later. I don't have dates for the children births.Information is taken from a Bailey family history written by Henry E. Bailey in 1931 and passed down through his family. This is not a published document but written by someone who saw his family scattering to the winds and wanted to leave a record. I hope this helps. I have very little more on them. 2. Does anyone know if there is a list of the people buried in the Fisher Cem. online? I am looking for Glasscock/Glassco's and McKinzie's said to be buried north of Champaign/Urbana. Northeast of Mahomet might be close. Help is always appreciated. Thanks, Joyce Neely

    2. Hi: I knew the name Parrett and possibly Claussen sounded familiar. Some of my Illinois relatives include the Keefers. In John B. Keefer's obit, it mentions an O. Parret as a pallbearer. It also mentions a J.N. Clouse, which of course could be an error; reporters were widely known to make mistakes. Somewhere else, I don't know where, I've run across Claussen; I'll look. Does the O. Parret make sense. The obit is from 1913 in Farmer City. Bob Espinosa >Is Fisher Cemetery in Champaign or Sangamon County? 3. Because of copyright laws, please see what can be put on the web at http://newspaperabstracts.com/ and Champaign Co. at http://www.newspaperabstracts.com/IL/Champaign/index.html After I do a couple more years, I will have a search by name on the Champaign County newspaper site. You can search now from the USA home page. It takes a few days to a week to be able to search the new pages when they are put up. The extractions that have been put on the site to-date are ones that I used previously in the quarterly. But I have a bunch more as soon as I have time to convert the pages so they can be read on the web. ------------------ Joan Black Lund My passion is Genealogy. http://www.staff.uiuc.edu/~j-lund Webmaster for: http://www.tbox.com/ccgs http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~joanlund/ http://www.newspaperabstracts.com/IL/Champaign/index.html

    1. [ILCHAMPA-L] Re: Derr/Durr/Dorr
    2. Donna, I don't know if this will help. I was scanning in my Great-Grandfather's Civil War Military and Pension records (about 100 pages worth.) In several affidavits I found references to A. J. DURR and later one with Andrew J. DURR and one with John H. DURR (who it is noted that he could not write more than to sign his name). My PITTMAN family was originally from Piatt co. and later moved to Mahomet and then Champaign. The affidavit states that they first met my Leonard PITTMAN in the spring of 1868. Leonard and family were living in Blue Ridge Twp., Piatt co IL near Mansfield at that time. The most recent affidavit appears to be 30 January 1890, though I could be (heaven forbid) wrong. I think that I had sent a message to this, or the Piatt co. list about seeing a DERR headstone in the Blue Ridge cemetery S. of Mansfield (although I have been known to get sidetracked and forgotten to send). The name struck because I have a friend here in TX with that name. I have a picture of it and if you are interested I'll scan it in and send it to you (once I find which pack it's in.) I hope that this gives you some clues. 1. [ILCHAMPA-L] Unreadable marriage records
    2. Joan Lund
    3. If you have a copy from IRAD, it was filmed from the microfilm. The Champaign Co. Historical Archives has the original document and if you write to them and ask them to see if the original is readable, I am sure they will be glad to check for you. I have recently been transcribing early birth records from microfilm for the quarterly and they are very hard to read. In this case, the original book is at the Clerk's Office but I am sure that it would be easier to read. Joan

    1. [ILCHAMPA-L] Re: IRAD
    2. Also, on the IRAD site is a link that you can select to see what records and dates are available for each county. They did have the list also available in an Acrobat Reader .PDF file that you could download, though I'm not sure if they still do. From my experience, some of the older records can be spotty. I've had a hit once and 2 misses, but it only costs the price of a stamp to try that route first and its cheap and on the honor system. Scott Pittman

    3. For Champaign County Records, the Champaign County Historical Archives is the official depository of the Champaign County Records. There are very few records in IRAD. Depending upon the date of the record, write to CCHA 201 South Race St., Urbana, IL 61801. They have the actual records up to 1915. From 1916 to 1976, they have microfilm of the marriage licenses. A dollar or so will suffice for copies. Joan Lund Editor, Champaign County Genealogical Society Quarterly.

    3. Joan, My problem is that I sent to IRAD for a marriage record but the maiden name is unreadable. Is that a common problem? I need parents names for Norman Dorr's mother. He married 21 Feb 1893 in Champaign Co. Family is called Derr/Durr/Dorr. They lived Piatt Co 1860-1880 Census. Norman's sister Elizabeth Catherine Durr is my great grandmother.
