    1. [ILCHAMPA-L] Bongard???
    2. I have found several references to the term, "Bongard", on my Champaign County index cards which I received from the Urbana Free Library. Does this term refer to a township, a city, a cemetery??? Any ideas? Thanks! Kevin Miller Researching the LOWRY, NOLAN, RYAN and CARRIGAN surnames in Champaign County, Illinois.

    3. Bongard is a cemetery, I think. My grandfather was buried there. I don't know if it used to be a town but it's near the town of Philo. -----Original Message----- From: KJMiller77@aol.com <KJMiller77@aol.com> To: ILCHAMPA-L@rootsweb.com <ILCHAMPA-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Saturday, March 24, 2001 3:43 PM Subject: [ILCHAMPA-L] Bongard??? >I have found several references to the term, "Bongard", on my Champaign >County index cards which I received from the Urbana Free Library. > >Does this term refer to a township, a city, a cemetery??? > >Any ideas? > >Thanks! > >Kevin Miller > >Researching the LOWRY, NOLAN, RYAN and CARRIGAN surnames in Champaign County, >Illinois. > > >

If so I would like to know if they are willing to check for a Ben Rutherford and a Maggie May Rutherford AKA Mae Rutherford. I do not know when they died just that in 1963 they were living in Champaign. Thanks for any help that can be given. Elizabeth Wells

    2. Hi! Joan, I have been reading your newspaper postings with interest. I know these are mainly highlights, and I have a question. On March 12 1891 there is a newspaper listing that reads: "A daughter of Mrs. Hogan, on Main Street, died suddenly." Would you have more details? I'm looking for either Mrs. Stewart (Catherine) Hogan or Mrs. Olin Samuel (Arvilla?) Hogan. Thanks -- Rebecca Davis

    3. Jeanne, I have found several distant cousins over the internet (my mother's family) and I have really enjoyed their e-mails. I wish I had more information. I have 4 or 5 1st cousins that live CA. One cousin I talked to thinks she may have some information, but is away from home right now. She said they will probably be home around Easter. I will look forward to hearing from you. 3. I called a cousin and she checked her mother's Bible. My aunt had written that her mother was born in Urbana. I do most of my research at the Mormon FHC. 2. Hi Janet... Like you I have little, but some information... and have checked a little there in Illinois as well as Ohio. Her husband Samuel Moon came from Ohio as did the Springers as well as Indiana... there is quite a bit of information but I have never found my Emily... It is my opinion that Samuel Moon was perhaps not her first husband which is why the name would be in my baby book and little information known as when I traced him I found two other wives... one in Ohio and one in Illinois. Back then that was common~ but always I have grieved about this missing ancestor. So am thrilled to learn whatever I can about the Springer family. I think perhaps they were Quakers... there were two brothers in Illinois ~ I will keep your name and see what I can find when I go back to Los Angeles. I suspect that we are related but quite a ways back. I found a 5th generation cousin recently... his ggggrandmother was my gggggrandfather's sister... and ironicallly he lives in Modesto~ small world, especially now with the Internet. hugs, Jeanne

    3. Thank you for your reply. I am not sure if I am a descendant of Benjamin Springer. All I have is my great-grandfathers name, George W. Springer born in Ohio. I have contacted several cousins, but no one has any information on the Springer's. I haven't checked any of the census for IL yet. I just found out a few days ago that my grandmother was born in Urbana. We live in a small town and it will take a few weeks to get the microfilm. I will be glad to share information, but unfortunately I have very little more to share. I do have some of my grandmother's sibling's names that were listed on the Texas census. My grandmother was living with her daughter in Modesto, CA when she died, Dec. 27, 1950.
