1. Re: [ILCHAMPA-L] Quiet
    2. Sydney, there were Beards that lived in Hoopeston, IL and I know a lady that was married to a Beard, and she lives in Colfax, IL, McLean County, but I don't know her married name now. Her and Beard were divorced when her children were very young. She had twins, Sheridan and Irene. The mother who married the Beard her first name was Mary. She lived with her father until he died in Hoopeston. Mary is pretty close to 70 years old if not older but she is as spry as she was when she was 16 probably. Irene, one of the twins, had breast cancer and died and is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in LeRoy, IL, also on McLean County. Mary had another daughter named Susan and I believe that she still lives in Hoopeston. I think that Sheridan lives in Bloomington. I don't know if this will help you or not but it might give a lead somewhere. ~Debbie In McLean County, Illinois~

I am trying to locate death information on my gg-grandfather, Alfred N. Beard. He came to Champaign Co. from Geauga Co., Ohio, in 1855 with his second wife, Orilla Smith, and three daughters. I last found him on the 1870 census index in Champaign Co. (A. N. Beard, page 238 in Rantoul Twp.) and have reached a dead end. Do you know where I could locate either death indexes or cemetery indexes for Rantoul? I assume he was buried in Rantoul as two of his daughters settled there (Lydia who married David W. 3. It wouldn't surprise me to find a Little in every county in Il. I know one Little was a company man for a mine in the southern part of the state. At last count there were 45,000 Little families in the US, but as far as I know I am the only person researching my Little tree in Central IL. John Little, the progenitor was b:1675 Scotland, arrived in NA around the turn of the century, and settled in New Jersey with his wife and two sons John and Thomas. There has been men named John and Thomas in every generation since in our family. Until the end of the 1700's middle names weren't fashionable so we numbered our John Little's. John Little[4] married twice. His first son, Benjamin Jackson Little b:1791, had three boys that migrated to IL.: Samuel, Tobias P., and John W. Little. John Little[4] son Thomas Dennis Little, by his second wife, migrated to IL about 1845. By the time these men came to IL., John 1 and 2 had died and John 3 had been killed in the RW. At the end of the 1800's there were 300 Little descendants of John[1] living. 2. It makes sense to me. I do know that there are Littles here in McLean County. In fact, there was just a murder trial here in McLean County for a murder 10 almost 11 years ago of an 18 year old gas station attendant named Bill or William Little. The man was just sentenced to life yesterday for his murder. Here are the details of the sentencing.: Snow sentenced to life By Pantagraph staff > Jamie Snow BLOOMINGTON -- Jamie Snow, the former Bloomington man convicted of the 1991 murder of a Twin City service station employee, was sentenced to natural life in prison today.Snow, 35, of St. Petersburg, Fla., also has no chance at parole, according to the sentencing order handed down by McLean County Circuit Judge Donald Bernardi after a three-hour hearing. In January, a McLean County jury convicted Snow of first-degree murder, agreeing that trial evidence proved Snow shot 18-year-old William Little at the now-closed Clark Super 100 station in the 800 block of East Empire Street in Bloomington.Little was shot twice in the chest during a robbery that netted $92.In August 2000, another jury acquitted co-defendant Susan Claycomb, 29, of Columbia, Tenn., of murder for allegedly driving the getaway car for Snow. The backbone of the prosecution's case was testimony from several witnesses who said snow admitted killing Little or made statements implicating himself in the shooting.Snow claimed those witnesses were lying, mistaken or confused. He testified at the end of his two-week trial that he was at home with his wife and children at the time of the shooting. Specials > . > ~Debbie In McLean County, Illinois~

    3. Hi Debbie, This probably sounds as silly to you as it does to me, but I am looking for a lost brother Samuel Little b:1818 and half-brother Thomas Dennis Little (he came to IL in 1845). A 3x great uncle, John W. Little, settled in the Rantoul area in the early1850's. I was recently told there has been some kind of feud between Little's in the Rantoul area and the Little's in the Urbana area for 100 years. I'd like to know about the feud. Supposedly one of the men that cares for the Maplewood Cemetery knows about this feud, but I haven't had any luck finding him or anything else about it. I keep thinking if the feud is this long standing it must be part of county history or lore by now. John's brother Tobias settled in Fulton County in 1856. There was a least one other Little in Fulton County at that time. My Little's were farmers, but I know that some of the other unrelated Little men in IL were miners. If none of this makes sense, I'll try to rewrite it for you.
