Does your book mention a Franklin Gordon? Arrived in Piatt county around the 1850's. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Windylakefour@cs.com> To: <ILCHAMPA-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, July 25, 2001 11:54 PM Subject: Re: [ILCHAMPA-L] Re: Some More Pioneer Names > Diane > From the book by Emma Piatt 1883 (reprint of course) [ Mr. W. Many thanks to the generous geneologists who answered my call. If anyone has access to a book listing the burials, I would like to know who my grandmother is buried next too. She has the right name and birthdate. Apparantly is not buried in McLean Co where husbands were buried. Elizabeth Buckles died 1904 in Champaign Co and is buried (acccording to the death record) Immanual Luthern Cemetery (Ayers) near Broadlands. There is a Lutheran Cemetery in Flatville. It is called The Beckman. It is just east of Thomasville. Have you tried calling the Urbana Archives? They are in the Urbana Free Library. They have most of the cemeteries in a data base. Connie
Hi, In answer to a Lutheran Cemetery in Champaign County near Broadlands, I found the following listing in my book on Champaign Co. Cemeteries. I found Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Section 18 of Ayers Township with Broadlands partially in Section 19. Could this be the cemetery you are looking for? The church and cemetery next to it are located in the northwest quarter of Setion 18. The mile markers at the corner of the church are 400N and 2400E. Cemetery was established in 1895 and the stones have been transcribed. I only have locations of cemeteries in this book, so you will have to find the transcribed list to help you locate your person's marker. There only seem to be 34 marker sections in the cemetery, so you may not have to look to hard if you are there and the book says the cemetery is well kept. Good luck Zoe Chandik at vehummer@aol.com
I'm still looking for the HILLSBERRY and WILLIAMS and MARTIN families . . .

Raymond Township is in the south of Champaign Co. It is bounded by Sidney township to the North, Crittenden Township to the west, and Ayers township to the east. Longview is the biggest town in Raymond. In the 1920 census, Raymond Township is District 34.
Raymond twp is not in Champaign County. I have a large old reproduction map. It not there. Do you have access to one of 2 Books, The Redbook, or The Source. Both are by Ancestry.com. The show all the states, counties with twps. They probably have some on the web site too, Also try usgenweb.com Connie
The Atlas I have only shows Champaign County, so I don't know what's east. Ford County is to the north and Harwood Twp to the west, with Compromise Twp to the South. Janet, The Champaign County Atlas for 1913 shows several Fowler farms in Kerr Township, close to the Vermilion County line, for U.G.Fowler, sections 9, 16, 17, 20 & 21; then on the 1929 census it shows land in the same township, on the Champaign / Vermillion line owned by Wiley M. sections 9, 16, 17, 22 & 31; Mrs. U.G. Fowler, section 17 & 20; L.S. Fowler, sections 20 & 21; W. (maybe Wiley?) sections 32, basically in the same places. Sections 9,16 and 21 are on the Champaign / Vermilion line. There is probably a lot more information at the Urbana Free Library. Maybe an obit of U.G. Fowler would give you more info. Jan . > > Does anyone know who the FOWLERS might have been ?? I have access (thru ancestry) to the census images of 1920 but - can anyone tell me what the enumeration district number(s) would have been for the Ogden,IL area ??? Janet
I found some names listed in an old notebook by my grandfather, as follows: (all surnames) HOBBY * MOREHOUSE * DAVIS * WEVER * McKEE * W.WILLIAMS * MOREHOUSE (2nd time) * DUITSMAN * SLUTER * GOSCHEN * H. PUTMON * G.PUTMON * NELSON * D.WILLIAMS * GILPONSON * SHIRLEY * ROSENBECK My grandfather Reid WEVER and his brother Ernie WEVER took their families from Lawrence Co., IN to the Champaign/Vermilion Co. area of IL in 1916 to "work on the FOWLER farm". They returned to IN about 1923. My mother, who was born in 1914, attended the Fairview School in Vermilion Co., IL. (her teacher was Ida May COLE and I have a photo of her and other group photos of the elementary class) My grandfather's Draft Registration Card was mailed to his address of "Ogden, Champaign Co.,IL" and the return address says Local Board for Division No. 1, County of Vermilion, Hoopeston, ILL. My uncle and wife had a son who was born in 1921 in Fithian, Vermilion Co.,IL. My mother remembers that they lived "near Royal and Ogden (both in Champaign, Co.)so apparently these folks lived practically on the county line. I assume these are the names of the "farm crew". My mother remembers the Davis' and the Duitsmans and I have many old photos (too many unidentified <frown>) I also have a news-clipping of the death of the Fithian sailor Donald McKee. Does anyone know who the FOWLERS might have been ?? Is anyone connected with any of the above names in the area at that time ?? (1916-1923) Janet jsend@hpcisp.com
