Searching for information on the family of William A. Boyd who married Florence A. Read in Champaign Co. in 1891. I have found a picture labeled Harold Read Boyd that was taken in Champaign. Parents of William were William F. Boyd and Nancy Agnes Addy who are supposed to be buried in Ludlow. Can anyone on the list help me? Donnie

Hi, I've recently located a newspaper article (Champaign County Gazette) on my gggrandfather. He was Adolph Lang and he was shot and killed outside his saloon in Sept. 1875. The article says the saloon was located near Straub's restaurant which was located at No. 53 Main Street in Champaign. The restaurant was owned by Oscar Straub. I'm interested if anyone on this list knows anything about this restaurant or the saloon. I'm not sure of the name of the saloon, but it was co-owned by Adolph and his father, Adolph Sr. I wonder what buildings are now located at this address? Any help would be much appreciated! Ruth Lang
Janet, I was born and raised in the area you are talking about. My sister married a Huls from Penfield, IL whose mother Annie use to have the tavern their in Gifford/Penfield,IL. Also Patsy and Maurice Duitsman use to live upstairs at our home, renting an apartment from us in the '50. We saw them when we went back for my brother-in-funeral in January of this year. There was a Duitsman that married a Harden girl from the Fithian area. My husband lived in Fithian and graduated from Oakwood High. We are going to Champaign,IL next month and will see what I can find out for you. If I read you e-mail correct you are looking for Katie and Christine Duitsman? Can you give me any other names, if so, I'll see what I can do for you and your mother. My mother is 88 yrs young and lives in Champaign,IL Sincerely, Pat MALEY-CURTIS anglers@bullshoals.net
Janet, There are tons of Duitsman's here in Champaign Co. I see 32 just with a quick look at the champaign-Urbana phone book, under that one spelling. Good luck in your search.
I My mother has always spoken fondly of the Deutzman's and now in her 86th year speaks of them more often, reminiscing about their school days at Royal. If anyone connects with this family, please would you contact me??? I would love to be able to tell my mother a little about what happened to her "best friend" Katie and Katie's older sister Christine. I'm not sure of the spelling, but the Deutzman family lived in Vermillion Co.,IL during the years 1916 - 1923. My mother and her family ( my WEVER ancestors) were neighbors to them at that time. She has always told me they lived "between Ogden and Royal" and I know that a cousin of hers was born in Fithian in 1921. My grandfather's military registration was mailed to him at Ogden, Champaign Co.,IL; however the card itself gives his address as Ogden, IL, precinct 1, county of Vermilion, state of IL (so you can see why I'm sending this to both lists) The WEVER families returned to Indiana in 1923. Kathy, I see in your list of surnames you have ROBINSON. You wouldn't happen to have an OSCAR ROBINSON or CALVIN ROBINSON or HIRAM ROBINSON would you? My ggrandfather OSCAR ROBINSON was born in Dana, Ill. Thank you Sally (Robinson) Cinpak nitmuvs@aol.com
Any more hints? How old was Patrick?? There are several Patrick Hayes in the 1850 IL census. There's one Patrick age 40 born in Ireland with wife Bridget 38 b. Ireland with children Fanny 13 b. Rhode Islad, Thomas 10, b. RI and Charles 7 b. IL. Karen
It looks like my ancestors left little evidence behind. Patrick Hayes was in Champaign County in 1860. His children appear in Panola County, Texas in the 1870's in the home their uncle Martin. The children had been in the home of an aunt, Honora Hayes Flanagan, of Freeport, Ill., for a short time. Is there anyone out there who recognizes these names? Thanks, Gerald ********************************* Billie and Gerald Ford Beasley, Texas (near Houston) gb.ford@fbtc.net

There are two Blankenships in Marshall, Clark Co.,IL. You might contact either of them to see if there is a relationship. One is Omar Blankenship, a retired pharmacist, at R,R,3, Marshall, Il 62441. Hello Everyone, This is my first post to the list, and it isnt a very good one. The reason being is that I am looking for my Calvin BLANKENSHIP without much to go on. I am sending this to the Illinois lists because I am thinking that since his wife was born in IL and her parents in TN, that maybe the Blankenship's moved from TN to IL, then to MO. Unfortunately I do not have last names for the women born in IL, but I figure that if I start shooting in the dark long enough, I will hit something. I estimate the Blankenship's migrating to IL after 1825. I found Calvin BLANKENSHIP married to DELIAH on the 1850 Texas County, MO census. Living next door to Calvin is WILLIAM BLANKENSHIP and his wife, PAMELA JANE. Since Calvin was only a couple of years older than William, I have to assume they are related, if not brothers, because they were the only Blankenships in TExas County at this time and they were both born in TN and both of their wives in IL (just thought that was interesting). SInce Calvin Died during the civil war (there is no record on him except a muster roll, since he was a confederate), he wasnt around when the government started asking where their parents were born. I followed Deiliah until 1880. I estimate her time of death between 1881-1883. I followed William, and he lists his parents as also being born in TN ..... although its a shot in the dark, is there anyone out there that has a link to a BLANKENSHIP's that had a son named Calvin, (who was born abt 1820-25) and/or William (b. abt.1823-1826). I do not have Calvin's parents names or their wives maiden names. I am hoping to connect them to someone who might be able to shed some light on this for me .... Thank you in advance!!!!
Hello!! Is there anyone on the list searching the Pettyjohn/Pettijohn surname? I have reason to believe that the Pettyjohns/Pettijohns came from the state of Delaware to Ohio and then on westward to Illinois. May we exchange family history information? Thank you.
