His name was William "Dote" Gill born 1898. My g-grandfather (also William) born in 1873 in Guilford Twp and lived in Galena. My gg-grandfather was John Gill. He married Mary Ann Philomelee Oct 22 1868 in Carroll Co and farmed in Pleasant Valley Twp according to 1870 census and had a son Robert at that time. 1880 cencus shows his family moved to Guilford Twp and had 3 sons and 1 daughter. He died in 1888. The obituary mentioned a brother from Mt Carroll but no name given. I remember my Aunt visiting an elderly female relative in Savanna in the early 1960s. ( May Gill?) I plan on visiting library in Savanna in future.
