This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: HANSEN, DELL Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Yg.2ADE/881 Message Board Post: I am looking for any information on my family who arrived in America in October, 1881. They were living in Savanna, IL on July 1, 1888 when my great-grandmother, Anna Elizabeth "Elizabeth" HANSEN (nee DELL) died. I think that they lived in Savana from the time they arrived in America until sometime before the 1900 census. Anna was married to Christian Nels (or Niels) HANSEN (possibly married around 1871 in Denmark/Germany). They had five sons: Nels (or Niels), twins Jacob & Nis, Christian "Chris" and John (only child born in USA). John, my grandfather, was born in Sabula, Iowa which is just across the border from Savanna. Did they live in Iowa at that time (28 Jan 1882) or not? I am trying to find out where the family came from in Denmark (Prussia/Germany). Anna had a brother, James DELL, who lived in Savanna at the time of her death. Any help on any of the above would be greatly appreciated.

Sophia came to the U.S. ca. 1842 but I have no parents nor a death date. She and Andrew wed in Huron Co., Ohio and several years later came to Mt.Carroll as his brother was a butcher there. In fact all the Phillips boys were butchers. I was to the cemetary several years ago and found Bessie. I counted the plots and it is possible that Andrew and Sophia are buried near or next to Bessie but again there is no record of this.
