Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Yg.2ADE/862.1 Message Board Post: Hi Mark, I think I wrote you about the Poffenbergers. Your letter was written by my grandmother. I can add a little to it. John Ackerman was the son of John Peter and Maria Barbara Ackerman. They came from Frankenhausen, Hessen Darmstadt and settled in Chambersburg, Pa. John Peter b January 1, 1784, in Germany, died in Chambersburg, December 21, 1850 and Maria Barbara born January 17, 1784, in Germany, died November 11, 1854, in Chambersburg, Pa. Maria Barbara died of dropsy and John Peter suffered from Palsy. Maria Barbara is buried in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Chambersburg, Pa. John Ackerman committed suicide, apparently because he could no longer stand his asthma condition. (Newspaper article, at the time of his death) Anna Catherine Salisbury's name is given as Katarina Anna Salzberger on a document I have (I'd have to check to see which one.) Her parents were Samuel Saulsbery, who died in Franklin County, Pa, in 1840, and Sophia George. They married March 27, 1827. Samuel Saulsbery was the son of Christopher Salzburger. Sophia George was the daughter of Adam George (Jurk.) Sophia married Jacob Kehl as her second husband. Sophia and Samuel had Katarina, Elizabeth, Samuel, Martha and Agnes. Good Luck.
