    2. Matthews
    3. Susie, This is not William Henry WOODWARD but it is about a Bureau County Woodward. Fremont County, NE is where some of my Bureau County ancestors went. Hope this is new info for you. Linda Matthews Nebraska the Land and the People: Volume 3 In October, 1892, Mr. Woodward married Miss Ellen Fisher, of Princeton, Illinois, who died in 1920, leaving two sons: Keith L., who was graduated from the Ogallala High School, is a decorator of Los Angeles, California; and Keene E., who was graduated from the Ogallala High School, is also a decorator of the same city as his brother. In October, 1922, Mr. Woodward married Mrs. Carrie Mehl, a widow, of Fremont, Nebraska, a daughter of William Mead, for a quarter of a century commissioner of Fremont County, Nebraska, Mrs. Woodward attended the Fremont Normal School, and she is a well educated lady, and active in the Eastern Star and the Rebekaha. She belongs to the Presbyterian Church and can be relied upon for effective cooperation in all kinds of church work. Mr. Woodward has always been active in the Democratic party, and was chairman of the local county central committee, and served for twenty years as city clerk of Ogallala. Civic advancement has been a subject very interesting to him, and it was he who inaugurated the movement that resulted in the building of sidewalks in the city, as well as that which produced the Commercial Club. For four years he was secretary of the Keith County Fair Association, and it would be difficult to mention any development or improvement of any moment with which he has not been connected. He is the only one of his father's family in Nebraska, his two brothers being still in Pennsylvania, Harry B. being at Perryville, where he is train dispatcher for the Pennsylvania Railroad; and Joseph C. being at Kenneth Square, where he is engaged in accounting.
