    3. Annette, I'll see what I can do. I don't have any of those names in my database. Maybe when I'm in Princeton, IL, I can find a 1928 obituary for William Davis LEIGH and/or William NEIGHBOR; find Rosie in the marriage index and maybe newspaper article on the marriage. I'll also see if a local history of Seatonville is available at the Matson library in Princeton. Sometimes those local histories can be goldmines. George Norton George Norton, Neponset, was born March 24, 1817, in Brawby, Yorkshire, England. He is the son of John and Sarah (Noble) Norton, both natives of England. They were the parents of six children who reached maturity, viz; Robert, William, Thomas, George, our subject; Ann and Fannie, the last two deceased. The oldest child, Robert, was killed in Barren Grove by a tree falling on him; he left a wife Mary (Robinson) Norton, and nine children. John and Sarah (Noble) Norton came here November 1, 1840, and died here; they were active members of the Methodist Episcopal Church and are well remembered by our old settlers. George Norton, the subject of this biography, came to Neponset in the spring of 1841. About 1844, he entered some land where he now resides, and to this he added from time to time till at present he has accumulated a handsome property of 320 acres of good land. His success in life may be attributed to his own perserverance and industry, as he started in life without any parental aid. Mr. Norton was married here, April 13, 1847, to Miss Ann Studley, born January 6, 1827 in England. She came to Morgan County, Ill. about 1836, with her parents, William and Annie (Chapman) Studley, who were the parents of eight children, and who were the first settlers in Neponset Township. Mrs. Ann Norton is the mother of ten children, viz; Mrs. Sarah A. Hood, Mrs. Eliza Sadler, Thomas N., Mrs. Emma Scaife, Levi G., Mrs. Addie J. Pratt, Moses J., Fannie E, Edwin F. and Irene C. Mr. Norton is identified with the Republican party and is interested in every good cause. He and his wife are active members of the Methodist Episcopal Church. 1. [ILBUREAU-L] WOODWARD INFO
    2. Matthews
    3. Susie, This is not William Henry WOODWARD but it is about a Bureau County Woodward. Fremont County, NE is where some of my Bureau County ancestors went. Hope this is new info for you. Linda Matthews Nebraska the Land and the People: Volume 3 In October, 1892, Mr. Woodward married Miss Ellen Fisher, of Princeton, Illinois, who died in 1920, leaving two sons: Keith L., who was graduated from the Ogallala High School, is a decorator of Los Angeles, California; and Keene E., who was graduated from the Ogallala High School, is also a decorator of the same city as his brother. In October, 1922, Mr. Woodward married Mrs. Carrie Mehl, a widow, of Fremont, Nebraska, a daughter of William Mead, for a quarter of a century commissioner of Fremont County, Nebraska, Mrs. Woodward attended the Fremont Normal School, and she is a well educated lady, and active in the Eastern Star and the Rebekaha. She belongs to the Presbyterian Church and can be relied upon for effective cooperation in all kinds of church work. Mr. Woodward has always been active in the Democratic party, and was chairman of the local county central committee, and served for twenty years as city clerk of Ogallala. Civic advancement has been a subject very interesting to him, and it was he who inaugurated the movement that resulted in the building of sidewalks in the city, as well as that which produced the Commercial Club. For four years he was secretary of the Keith County Fair Association, and it would be difficult to mention any development or improvement of any moment with which he has not been connected. He is the only one of his father's family in Nebraska, his two brothers being still in Pennsylvania, Harry B. being at Perryville, where he is train dispatcher for the Pennsylvania Railroad; and Joseph C. being at Kenneth Square, where he is engaged in accounting.

The Bureau County surname that I am sure about is Schuetts. My grandfather was Albert Robert Schuetts who married Hannah Elizabeth Broadbent. I believe that she was from Annawan in Henry County. I believe that Albert had a brother named August who was married to Hannah Broadbent first. They had a child Carolyn (Carrie) and he died and she married Albert. Albert and August's fathers name was also August. He was married to a Rachel Fenton. Albert was married to Hannah in 1909. He was born in 1885. If you see anything on the Schuetts I would appreciate the help. There is still a great-aunt living in Kewanee but I have not been able to get much from her. Thank you, Linda Fischer rfischer@ar-net.com

My Nelson Bullman owned land in Wheatland Twp., Bureau Co., Ill., from about 1844 to 1860. I know quite a lot about him except his death date and place of burial. He is evidently buried at a cemetery around the old Lone Tree area and there are no markers. Just wondering!!! mr Matthews wrote: > > I just joined this mailing list last night.
