Not so strange as you may think...there may be records there that are not in the INDEX...ANNNDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD.... The statement is not strictly true. For example, I have a list of about 150 marriages which where the licenses were issued and returned in ROCK ISLAND COUNTY, but the actual marriages took place in Henry, Whiteside, Knox and Mercer counties...those records are kept in Rock Island County where the original license was issued. Don't ask me why people did this unless the groom obtained the license and then was married at the home or church of the bride, which was someplace besides Rock Island County. There are more Henry Co cemetery lookup volunteers on the Henry Co ILGenWeb Project site at http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilhenry in case you want to check some others as well. I wish we had a publication of Pleasant View Cemetery in Kewanee, which is like a who's who of Henry & Bureau County surnames, but it has not yet been published.... Folks may also want to check HC lookup volunteers for birth, death and marriage records...I have found a LOT of crossing over between Western Bureau Co and Henry Co in my research...and somehow I know I'm not the only one. I am interested in contacting a genealogy society or history society or something similar that might have cemetery information. Any ideas? In particular my ancestors settled in Bureau Junction, Bureau co., Ill. Around 1910 to 1919 a Marguette or Marie Bales died (or so family tradition says) I am trying to find anything on her. > Alan Jones > alan.jones@unisys.com > Mission Viejo, Calif. Today I was in an antique store in Arnolds Park, IA and there was a needlepoint sampler. At the top the following was stitched: Hand stitched by Sophia Praefke, Printer Bureau Co. Hi, I am searching for information about my ggggrandparents, William and Anna Margarite Croisant. William immigrated from Germany in 1841. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you, Gail Shulmire

The Illinois State Genealogical Society published Illinois Marriage Record Index in 1994, but there are no Bureau County marriages for the Triplett family. I know that several members of this family married in Bureay County. This index seems to cover earliest records through the early 20th century. Perhaps Bureau was skipped entirely. Can anyone tell me if there are 19th century marriage records for Bureau County? Thanks. Glorianne

I have a problem, I'm embarrassed to say. A very nice gentleman snail-mailed me some information on the Neponset area of Bureau County where some of my Henry Co ancestors came from. I've lost somehow both the envelope it came in and our email correspondence regarding the families he is researching. I KNOW he was on either the Henry Co list and is researching Robinson and Otley in Henry & Bureau Co....I THINK his name is Greg or Gary, so if you are out there nice person, PLEASE email me as I have found some OTLEY info (a LIVE OTLEY in fact) for you who is anxious to contribute to the family history!
