    1. ([ILBOONE])COLE - TAYLOR Family Photographs
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" a group of three photographs belonging to the COLE, TAYLOR, and SMITH Families including: 1 - Catherine Matilda COLE TAYLOR who was the daughter of Allen John COLE and Eliza Ann KING, photograph taken at the McGhie Studio in Columbus, KS likely in the 1890's or early 1900's with Catherine appearing to be 50's at the time. 2 - Walter Perry TAYLOR taken at the Stover Nelson Studio in Syracuse, NE. Taken in the 1880's or early 1890's, Walter appears to be in his 20's at the time. 3 - Zelma SMITH daughter of Frank Sherman SMITH and Perla Ann TAYLOR, notes that she was born in Miltonvale, KS and died in Island Co., WA, the photograph was taken at the C. I. Lehmer Studio Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding this family: Catherine Matilda "Kate" COLE was b. 31 Mar 1842 in Austinburg, OH to Allen John "AJ" COLE (1806-1885) and Elizabeth or Eliza Ann KING (1811-1873) who were married 12 Nov 1829 in Darien, GA. Kate was one of 10 children born to this couple including, Charles Perry; John Nathaniel; Henry; Henry C.; Jane L.; Ellen; Jane; Catherine Matilda; Mary Elizabeth; and Emma Amelia COLE, all born between 1830 and 1848.She married Jeremiah "Jerry" TAYLOR in 1868 in Boone, IL and they had a son, Walter Perry TAYLOR (1871-1946) and a daughter Perla Ann TAYLOR (1870-1956). After her husband died she married Levi WILLIAMS. Kate died 20 Apr 1900 in Coupeville, WA and is buried at the Sunnyside Cemetery in Coupeville, WA. Walter Perry TAYLOR was b. 31 Dec 1871 in Capron, IL son of Jeremiah & Kate TAYLOR came to Coupeville, WA in 1901 and married Mary A. LOHSE (1881-1961) on 27 Aug 1917 in Bellingham, WA. They had a son, Walter Wilbert TAYLOR (1919-1995). Walter Perry TAYLOR died 26 Aug 1946 in Oak Harbor, WA and is buried in the Sunnyside Cemetery in Coupeville, WA. Carrie Zelma SMITH was b. 14 Apr 1891 in Milton Vale, KS to parents Franklin Sherman Eli SMITH (b. 1865) and Perla or Pearl Ann TAYLOR (1870-1956) who were married 25 Oct 1893 in Portland, OR. Carrie was one of three children born to this couple including Carrie Zelma; John Lester; and Laura Irene SMITH, all born between 1891 and 1894. It appears that Carrie's Father was previously married and had a son Jesse Eli SMITH (1886-1942) and that her Mother married a second time and had three additional children including, Arthur Edwin; Walter; and Robert Byron BLACK born between 1904 and 1910. Carrie married David Edgar BYRD (1888-1969) on 28 Aug 1909 in Victoria, BC and they had two children, Coda Irene; and William Elmer BYRD born in 1910 and 1911. Carrie it appears married a second time to Mark Manderville WASHBURN (1888-1978) and they had two children, Edith WASHBURN (b. 1917); and Maurine Madge WASHBURN (1922-2006). Carrie also married a third time to Franklin Gerald George WILSON (1892-1947) and they had a daughter, Cecile Elizabeth WILSON (1928-1934). Carrie died Dec 1968 in Coupeville, WA. I am hoping to locate someone from the family so that these precious old photographs can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    1. [ILBOONE] Hospitals in Belvidere, Boone County 1914
    2. Charlotte Flock via
    3. I am looking for a sanitarium or a hospital back in 1914. My ancestor had went to the facility to recover the newspaper articles below mention that he went to Belvidere Sanitarium. I am writing to ask anyone if they know of such facility. I really think the newspaper was mix up on its information back in 1914. I know the medical records I would not be able to obtain but I was looking for the family history part of the record, where he would of listed his parents names, his wife and child and possibility his siblings names along with dates. John William Schmitt that was taken to the Sanitarium in Belvidere around Feb 7, 1914, and return from the Belvidere sanitarium on March 8, 1914. Newspaper Articles Abstracted *********************************************************************** *The Rockford Register-Gazette Monday January 26, 1914* Under Huntley Title Mr. John Schmidt is quite ill at his home here. ************************************************************************** *The Rockford Register-Gazette Saturday February 7, 1914* John Schmidt has been taken to a sanitarium at Belvidere Mr. Schmidt has been ill the last six or eight months ************************************************************************** *The Rockford Register-Gazette Saturday March 11, 1914 Wednesday* Under Huntley Title John Schmidt returned from the Belvidere Sanitarium Sunday. He is survived by his wife and little daughter and four brothers. The funeral was held Saturday morning from St. Mary's Church. (This would be Wednesday June 10, 1914) ****************************************************************************** I have contacted the Lake county Discovery Museum and below is there reply If the sanitarium was located in Belvidere, Illinois, we do not have information on it. In Lake County, Illinois, Lake Breeze Sanitarium (also known as Camp Breeze) was located on Grand Avenue in Waukegan from 1908/1909 – 1914. In 1939, a tuberculosis sanitarium was built on Belvidere Road in Waukegan. Here’s a brief history of tuberculosis care in Lake County, Illinois: http://lakecountyhistory.blogspot.com/2010/05/tuberculosis-sanitarium.html Thank you for contacting the Lake County Discovery Museum. Please let me know if I may be of further assistance. Sincerely, Diana So, with this note, I am contacting Boone County, to make sure if there was a hospital of some type back in 1914. Diana mention that the Tuberculosis Sanitarium was not built until 1939 on Belvidere road in Waukegan. 2. I have two pictures of members of the Kleber family. I know they were in the Boone Co. area in the early 1900s. One is a picture of Julia (1878 - 1958 (maiden name may be Lovage), married to Charles R. Kleber. and with child(maybe daughter, Elizabeth). Taken Jan '00 (looks like) Second picture is Julia with Lawrence H. Kleber (b. 1893) and Ada Bernice Kleber (b. 1910. Probably taken around 1911. Does anyone know someone in the family still around to give these pictures to? I think other children in this family were: Norman and Raymond. Some may be in the Belvidere area. Thank you Janet Beckington (they were from Boone Co.) Buchanan

    1. [ILBOONE] Abraham-Abram Longyear Bush & Henrietta Russell-Woodward; abt 1838-1850
    2. Hi Listers: I would like to verify that Abraham Bush and Henrietta Russell-Woodward were believed to have been married in De Kalb County but had children in Boone County. I did find that there was a marriage for this couple 11 Jul 1839 in Dekalb County; and in the 1840 census DeKalb County there was Abraham L Bush 1 male 20-29 age group and 1 female 20-29 age group. In the 1850 census for Benton, Boone County 62/62 there is Abram L Bush age 45 b. NY, no wife listed, and 4 boys-- John J age 10, Henry M age 8, Charles age 6, William age 1. I also noticed a 5 year gap between Charles and William and wonder if there was another child born and died young in that gap. Thanking you all for your help in my research.
