Maybe this will help to explain why other counties are discussed. Fayette and Montgomery Co, IL were formed FROM Bond Co, IL. Shelby was formed from Fayette, Macon was formed from Shelby. A study of the Illinois counties and what counties they were formed from, is a great help for everyone. Bond was settled early. When the county borders change the same people who were in Bond county were then in Fayette, Montgomery etc. A study of the early surnames who settled BOND, FAYETTE and MONTGOMERY will tell you most surnames were and still are related in the areas yet today.
