Although I had known for years that my great-grandfather, Robert O. White of Bond County, had written a journal of his experiences in the Mexican War, no one knew where the family copy was. I finally have found it, thanks to the power of the internet. The journal was published in Greenville in 1847. I have added it to the list of publicaitons in which I do lookups. There aren't as many names as I would have liked, but he does talk about those who died and were sick. We have included the index on this site.
