    3. Adrian, You might check out Gene Balch's site. http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Prairie/5162/ His email address is on his site. I believe he has more then just his line of Balch's. He helped me out. I checked my file and I don't have any Gibbins. Although I did have a Andrew Jackson Balch, but there were no spouse nor children listed with him. Sorry! Our line did come through Bond Co., IL. 1. [ILBOND-L] BALCH-GIBBINS
    2. Is anyone familiar with a Samuel Marion BALCH (BLOCK) who married Ella K. GIBBINS in AR in the late 1800's? Samuel was the son of Andrew Jackson BALCH who moved to IL from TN. The perplexing thing about the above marriage is that I got the data from the site of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, I sent the data to the records office in Arkansas, and they responded that they could not find information about the marriage. ARRRGG! I was told that the data was correct because it was from an ACTUAL government record and not from an individual sending in family data. I also have been unsuccessful in finding these BALCHes in AR. Does anyone have ideas of how to pursue further this marriage license or how BALCH and GIBBINS met? Thank you! Adrian Sinclair Balch

    1. [ILBOND-L] 1870 census lookup
    2. Michael A. Landwehr
    3. Hi, I recently discovered that Peter RENFROW married Nancy Ann PRICE in Bond County on September 26, 1870. I strongly suspect that Peter Renfrow was the son of John Renfrow and Mary Ann 'Polly' COUCH. I have been searching for this family in the 1870 census for some time. Does anyone on the list have access to the printed 1870 Bond County census? If so, would you please check for John or Mary Ann or Polly or Peter Renfrow? Some of the frequent variants are Renfro, Wrenfro, Wrenfrow. Thanks so much. Mike Landwehr West Des Moines, Iowa

    3. Talk to Bill Donnell of the Donnell funeral home. He has the site/grave plan for Montrose cemetery as it was handed down by the last caretaker. He was very helpful to me last December, accompanying my in a strong snow storm with a broom to brush the snow from the face of several gravestones. Bill Gordon

    2. Rosemary Bozovich
    3. Hello! Can anyone tell me if there is a listing of burials for the Montrose Cemetery? I visited the cemetery last weekend looking for a relative, but it is so large that I ran out of steam and was unable to walk the entire place. Also, on the USGS GNIS site, it gives an alternate name of "Mount Gilead Church Cemetery". Can anyone explain this? Thanks! Rosemary <roz1@poweruser.com>

In case you didn't get an order form, or if you would like one to order one now, the order form (printing company demands money up front) is at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilclint2/historybook.htm Their deadline to the printers is based on a 30 September return date of orders/payments.

Another family headed by John about 25-27, wife and possibly a son 7, and daughter 2-4. Also would there have been a printed index to the federal or state census from 1840 until the time of soundex? If so where would I find these, are they inter-library loan items? Any help is appreciated. Marge

    1. [ILBOND-L] Civil War search site.
    2. Hi List, Wanted to post this site if you are looking for info on Civil War ancestors: http://www.ancestry.com/ancestry/search/cwrd/cwrd_index.htm The 26th IL Inf. was formed from many Bond Co. boys and I found a couple of my family listed there. I had no luck in putting in their names for a search, but when I put in the Reg. and searched the 26th, was able to find the ones I wanted by looking at it page by page. There are 135 pages to go through, so it takes some time to search. While there, I found a William Bilyen from Mulberry Grove who I suspect was William Bilyeau that married Martha (Rench) Powell, the widow of Robert Powell. The only thing is according to dates I have, William and Martha married a month before Robert died while in the service. Also it showed that William was busted from a Sgt. to a Pvt. and then was discharged on the 22 of Aug, 1864. The marriage between William and Martha I show was on Aug 1, 1864. There seems to be some discrepency. Anyone on the list have info on this family? Linda Garrett

    1. [ILBOND-L] GILLESPIE/WILLEFORD/FILE/ELLISON
    2. Noble Brown
    3. I'm new to the Bond Co List. Bond County has done a good job in writing the histories of the GILLESPIE/WILLEFORD/FILE/ELLISON and connecting families in the Nebo and Mt Gilead cemetery books, but I have more questions and would love to hear from someone with information on these families. My g grandparents moved to nearby Effingham Co. where my grandmother was born and remained. I, personally, had no contact with Bond Co. throughout my life, so I have questions that may be easy for Bond natives to answer. Loleta Kirchhoff Brown nlblsb1@ccipost.net
