I haven't heard the one about Cairo but the book, Louisiana - A Narrative History by Edwin Adams Davis suggests that Lafitte married in Charleston SC, moved to the Midwest and had some kids. He claims that he died in Alton IL (NE of St. Louis MO) on May 5,1854. ----- Original Message ----- From: <ADib102684@aol.com> To: <ILALEXAN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, February 03, 2004 3:44 PM Subject: Pirate of early American history, Jean Lafitte > Can anyone help? > Thanks Angela > > My name is Nick Reiter, and I am writing from Gibsonburg, Ohio. > > I realize you probably have very little time for information requests, > however yours was about the only contact e-mail address I could find with > respect to Alexander County, Illinois.
