It was in Alexander County. An ancestor of mine had a license to operate a ferry across the Cache river. Due to flooding, most of the people moved 7 or 8 miles North and formed a new town of America. They built their town on what they thought was the bank of the Ohio River, planning on being a properous river town. When the flood waters receded the town was about 1 mile from the bank of the Ohio river, thus it never prospered. There are a couple of very small cemeteries on the county gravel road. I think they were family cemeteries. You can check at the Cairo City Public Library. They have a book on the cemeteries of Alexander and Pulaski Counties. I hope this helps in your search.
