    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: LEVERETT Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/He.2ADI/326 Message Board Post: Hi List. I need help. My Leverett family lived in East Cape as proven by the 1870 census. A few years before and a few years after the 1870 census many things such as death, birth and marriage happened within this family. I recently visited the Courthouse and library in Cairo and was suprised not to find much if any information on anything or anyone who lived in the northern part of Alexander Co. during the 1870 timeframe. I thought I read somewhere that the folks in the northern part of the county used the courthouse in Thebes for their business in those days. At any rate does anyone know where I might find any 1870 records other than at Cairo. The surnames I'm looking for are LEVERETT, SMITH and REYNOLDS. All suggestions appreciated. Kathy

    3. Hi My great grandfather Oliver H. C. P. Stout married Meilla Ann "Millie" Bankston in Alexander County on July 29, 1869. Oliver, Millie and baby daughter Mary are found in the 1870 census of Alexander County in the Santa Fe Precinct. By April, 1872, Oliver married Sarah Jane Bryant. Even though Sarah's obituary says they were married in Illinois, I have never found a record of the marriage. I would like to know what happened to Millie and Mary. Was there an epidemic in the area around 1870? I don't think there was a divorce or Oliver's son, my grandfather William Hubert Stout surely wouldn't have married Millie's neice Nora Bell Bankston in Johnson County IL in 1891. So my two questions are what happened to Milley and Mary and where did Oliver marry Sarah Jane Bryant. (Sarah's sister Nancy married Pete Ussery in Johnson Co. in 1870 but I did not find their parents William and Mary Bryant in any records.) Ted Stout
