    3. Jane, As for the two sons born 34 years apart, I have run across that sort of spread in families before. In fact, I and my youngest sister are 22 years apart even. If Nancy had that first child at the ripe old age of 15 having one at 49 is not a stretch. The part I have trouble with is Nancy Henderson giving birth to a child at the age of 78..... As for the name change, I sometimes wonder if that isn't what happened to one of my brick walls. There is a family story about him having killed a man and came to Alexander County afterwards, and perhaps a name change would explain why I can't find much trace of him prior to 1848, except a supposed birthplace in Georgia. Good luck figuring this one out. I am deeper into a mystery than ever: We had always heard that my great-grandfather, George, and his cousin, Lemuel Henderson, from Thebes, has killed a man and changed their name from Greene to Henderson. I could find no proof of it anywhere! Someone killed someone somewhere, that is a certainty. Well, now I have been doing some further research and want a 'splanation, Lucy, as Ricky Ricardo would have said: George was born in 1864. Alfred Alexander Henderson was born in 1898. Both have Ril(e)y and Nancy Henderson listed as their parents. BUT: Riley was born in 1815, and Nancy in 1820!!! It is not possible!!! Even two sons born 25 years apart would be a stretch! Please, did anyone know them or of the family there?! My dad, Lonnie, remembers Lemuels' son, Millard, coming to Sunday dinner most weeks at his mom, Lois', and dad, Johns' house when he was a little boy, so maybe someone else remembers, too?!?! 1. Lindsey cemetery location
    2. Charlotte Burd
    3. If you are traveling (west) from Tamms, IL to McClure, IL on the "grapevine trail", Lindsey cemetery will be on the right hand side of the road, just before getting to the straight stretch of road that leads into McClure. If you are traveling (south) from Anna or Ware on route 146, or on route 3 from Grand Tower, turn left into McClure and travel east towards Tamms, after leaving McClure city limits you will be on "grapevine trail", Lindsey cemetery will be on the left after the straight stretch of road coming out of McClure. If you are traveling (north) from Cape Girardeau, MO on route 146, or Thebes on route 3, turn right into McClure and follow the directions given in the previous paragraph. There is a big sign at the Lindsey cemetery entrance. Charlotte Dalton Burd PO Box 31 Olmsted, IL 62970 Pulaski, Co jcburd@midwest.net

    2. J.D. Gammon
    3. The Cairo Public Library's Genealogy Section has most if not all of the cemeteries in Alexander County cataloged with the locations and a list of those who are sleeping in them. Since my father was from Diswood (located sort of between Olive Branch and Tamms), the Lindsey Cemetery sounded familiar but I cannot remember it's location at this time. If you plan on going to visit or search, this is the right time to think about going since most of the rattle snakes and copperhead snakes hopefully will have gone to bed for the winter by now. One of the tools that I have been using for a couple of years when I go searching cemeteries and find my kin is a Global Positioning System (GPS) so the location of the graves will be known in the future, especially on some of the ridges in Alexander County.
