Surnames: Cecil, Newell, Greer Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/He.2ADI/123.1.1 Message Board Post: Anna, Thank you so much for your response, I was beginning to think Hazelwood was long forgotton. My g aunt taped a video tape about her childhood, and she spoke quite fondly of Hazelwood School. She would have attended between 1910 and 1920. My family name in that area is Cecil and Newell. I know exactly where you are talking about, I didn't realize they called that Newell Road though, do they also call it Ullin Road? Or am I thinking of the wrong place. The road I am thinking of coming south from Jonesboro you go past the Elco sign and you come to a 4 way stop, could be 2, but I think it is 4, And you turn right there to go to Ullin, my g grandmother who was a Newell is buried on a hill about 6 houses down on the right, my g aunt also referred to this small cemetery as Hazelwood Cemetery, it is not taken care of at all anymore, we had my G Grandmothers tomb stone redone, and go down there once a year and clear it out a bit, and leave floweres, it is so sad to see cem! eteries like these not being maintained, there is no access to this cemetery though, it is behind some peoples farm, you have to park in their driveway and walk through the back pasture and there is between 30 and 50 graves up on the hill side behind the pasture. This spring when I go back down I am going to transcribe these graves, if anyone is looking for a grave site in this area. Thanks again Anna. Linda Cox

It is the third building on the right just past a trailer.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: GAY, ELLIS, LACKEY, LINDSAY, SIMPSON, ELLIS, PEARMAN Classification: Lookup Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/He.2ADI/171 Message Board Post: I have been searching through the 1870 and 1880 Alexander & Pulaski Counties Census for my great-grandmother Sarah Ellen LACKEY who was born in 1873. I have no idea who her parents are because her death record in Florida where she died stated that her parents were UNKNOWN. In my research through census records of 1880 I found no Sarah Ellen LACKEY in Alexander or Pulaski Counties. Her death record said she was born in 1883 in Cairo, Illinois but about 5 years ago my cousin informed me she was actually born 10 years earlier and may have been born in Mounds, Illinois. My cousin, Marianne Copeland CREWS had e-mailed me saying Sarah Ellen LACKEY married a William Gray BRITT before marrying my great-grandfather Richard Mack LINDSAY. She also may have children from her earlier marriage. Can some kind soul do a lookup for a marriage date for Sarah Ellen LACKEY to William Gray BRITT and one for Richard Mack LINDSAY. I don't believe Richard Mack LINDSAY originated from Illinois according to his death record in Florida but Sarah Ellen LACKEY did. If someone could help I'd really love to find out her parents names too. I'm also researching Richard Mack LINDSAY who was born July 04, 1870 in Richmond, Virginia. He came to DeSoto County, FL. circa 1925 with his wife and 3 known children. Before Richard settled in DeSoto Co., FL. he left VA. for Cairo, IL. in Alexander County. He worked for the Illinois Central Railroad where he met Sarah Ellen LACKEY who was born Mar. 20, 1873 in Cairo, IL. They were married there by my guess, Abt. 1899. They had a son named Charles Walter LINDSAY who was born Mar. 22, 1900, died Dec. 14, 1966. They also had a daughter named Helen Hazel LINDSAY who was born Feb. 09, 1908. They were both born in Cairo, IL. The Lindsay family then moved to Little Rock, AR. where Richard and Sarah had another son... my grandfather Jessie James LINDSAY, Sr. who was born on Feb. 14, 1914. Richard Mack Lindsay died Nov. 11, 1943 in DeSoto County, Florida and is buried at Joshua Creek Cemetery in Arcadia. According to his death records he had a brother named William (Bill) LINDSAY who was living in Maysville, Kentucky and two sisters, Annie LINDSAY (SIMPSON) and Lillian LINDSAY (KNUCKLES) both living in Texas; Daughter: Mrs. Rebecca PEARMAN of Grand Chain, IL. and 2 stepsisters: Mrs. Julia GAY and Mrs. Lola ELLIS, of Mounds, IL. If someone needs a Florida lookup I can return the favor. If not then it would be worth some payment for your time and effort. Please let me know what I can do for you. Thanks for your time! Surnames: WILLIAMSON/ALEXANDER Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/He.2ADI/167 Message Board Post: Am looking for the brother of William Albert Williamson. think he might be James Williamson, from Adams Co, married Mrs. Josephine Alexander in Alexander CO. Will have to go back to the marriage index to see what year. Also, Nellie M. Naylor married Allan B. Alexander Alexander CO, 6-19-1886. Nellie was a niece of James. Shows James as Head of House. He was in hismid 20's, and a farmer. James also had brother John and sister Emma. trying to find out if James, John, Emma, and William's mother was Anna Williamson (born Ireland). Seems they did not know who father was. Maybe Anna divorced. Believed their father came from Ireland also. I found James and his family in the 1880 US census in Adams County, IL. William was born in 1860, so his age varies slightly. Nellie was the same age as William, 15. Anyone with info on these person Williamson/Alexander, I would appreciate knowing. William Albert Williamson was born in Alton, IL, Sept 15, 1860, and married Sarah Eli! zabeth Reynolds in DeWitt County, Wapella, Nov 1889. Thanks, Shari
