Hello, I was on apex , but have changed to winstonc@vci.net . My surnames from Alexander Co. are: Robbs, Goodman, Hutton, Garaghty. The last three names are two Robbs women who married and remained in the area. My great great grandfather, James Robbs, is buried at McClure. Rachel Goodman is buried at Bankert. Eliza Robbs Hutton Garaghty is last found living in Williamson Co. (Herrin)in 1910. I am now searching for Alva Goodman, found in the 1880 census at age two, in McClure. I am also looking for Eva D. Belcher, daughter of Eliza Hutton Garaghty. Other grandchildren of Eliza Hutton Garaghty were Helen and Esie Smith.

In the first few years of the 1940's two brothers, Billy and I think, Jimmy Buster attend the same school as I did. Pence School in Rock Springs Hollow. I never knew their fathers name. That is all I remember, except Billy wrote with his left hand, and drew wonderful pictures. Hope this helps. Vee

I think I found them in the 1880 census in Illinois. They were Washington Reams I am not sure of his birth year. And Emma Reams born in 1862. The last name could be Reames. In the census the names and ages match up. In the census it has Washington being born in Illinois his father in TN. and mother in Illinois. It has Emma as born in Illinois. I do not know if this is the right Washington and Emma but all the facts seem to point that way. They had my great grandfather John Isaac Reams born 1883. I know he later moved to Missouri. He married Sarah Elizabeth Myers and they had my grandmother Emma Josephine Reams. Please help.

Possum Trot is off Route 127 between Elco and Tamms. Turn west on what is now called Newell Road (formerly Old Elco Rd), go to T in the road, turn right, go to next road that goes left. Youbedam is located in Union County off the Old Cape Road south of Jonesboro. It's name has been changed a couple of times. They called it Happy Hollow and recently I heard it had another name change, but don't recall what it was. These aren't positive identifications so don't hold me to it.

I have saved your message with your e-mail address and I will contact you when I get the transcription together. I am just waiting for a break in the weather, I like to go as early in the Spring as possible, before everything gets grown up. I read your other reply about Elco, and there is no caretaker for Hazelwood, it is so sad to see all the weeds growing up there. When our family goes, we try to clear it out somewhat. It is a shame that the county is not able to maintain the cemeteries. I have written to the State about the condition of the cemetery, but have not heard back from them. Thank you for the information on the names that Elco went by before Elco, I will check that out. Linda Cox

Stephanie, My grandparents Frank Darnell and Louisa Viola Smith Darnell are buried in Phillips Cem. in Alexander Co. I think it is on what they called the old Hooker place, You have to go through a gate on private property and it is on a high hill with many cedar trees. I have been searching for the burial site of Louisa's parents, William Riley Smith and his wife Sarah, with no results. I have Darrel Dexter's indexes for Union Co. and they are not in it.
