A Terrane Curran is listed in the household of Patrick Corkan in the 1850 census. My 3great grandfather is Terrance Curran. The man listed in the house of Patrick Corkan is the right age and is from Ireland. My Terrance worked for the railroad later in his life and his occupation listed on this census is "cod sub" (from what I could read). I'm thinking that this has something to do with the railroad. I'm at a brick wall with this ancestor. I know that he came from Ireland sometime before 1850 as he was 19 in 1850. I'm trying to find out how, when, where etc. This brings me back to Patrick Corkan. If you know of this family or anything about the railroad, please contact me at sallysuewho@hotmail.com Thank you. The Patrick Corkan family were listed as Patrick Corkan 30 Nancy 36 Mary A. 11 Jeremiah 8 John 6 Patrick Corkan 76 Peter O'Brian 21 Terrane Curran 19

Hi Listers Did someone on this site say that you can't get records from the Alexander County Courthouse? I would like to get the marriage license of Albert G. Livings and Lizzie L Sisk..........married on 05/20/1877, in Cairo and also I would like to get a copy of a deed of a house owned by Daniel Hartman <1855> on Walnut Street; then owned by his wife Leah Hartman than his daughter <Lydia> Margaret Hartman Smith in Cairo. How would I get these documents if the courthouse is not able to do it? Or am I just out of luck? Thank you, Mary Boudreau
Hi I have found out that the Illinois Marriage Record Archives data base only goes up to 1900 and I am looking for my great grandparents: Goodwin William (G.W.) Boudreau and Elizabeth Alberta (Lizzie) Livings who were married in Cairo, Alexander County, Illinois, in about 1910 Lizzie was born in June of 1885, is Cairo and was raised by her grandmother Margaret (Maggie Hartman) Smith, a resident since 1868 of Cairo. Her parents Albert G. and Lizzie L. (Smith) Livings) were killed by consumption in 1885. Lizzie's husband G.W. Boudreau was born in 1884, in Nebraska and their son Charles was born in Cairo in 1914. So, I would appreciate help in finding Lizzie's and G. W. Boudreau's marriage record. Thank you, Mary Boudreau

Surnames: LIVINGS Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/He.2ADI/314 Message Board Post: We just found out that our gr.gr. grandfather Albert G. Livings, Jr., was killed by Consumtion - "TB" and he went to visit his sister in Newton, Iowa on August 7, 1885, thinking that a change in climate might help him. He lived until November 12, 1885 and later was brought back to Cairo and put in Beechwood C. The reason for this story, is that in June of 1885 my gr. grandmother Elizabeth Albert Livings was born and was christen on August 22, 1885 at the First United Methodist Church, in Cairo and was living with her grandmother Margaret Hartman Smith. Sometime after her birth she lost her mother Leah Elizabeth <Lizzie Smith> Livings and a older sister Ellie May born 1878 in Cairo, they are in Beechwood, also. In Albert G. Livings obt, it only mentions he had two living daughters, one living with his sister in Iowa and the other living in Cairo. Since he had been suffering from his TB for a few months, we presume that was happen to his wife and oldest daughter, also. So, I have a puzzle to solve. We would appreciate it if someone could find a account of what happen during May-August period of 1885 in Cairo. Was Consumption - "TB" widespread or did it just hit my ancestors? Also, if someone could find the date my gr.gr. grandmother Lizzie Livings lived to; it would be appreciated. Thank you, Mary

Hello List I was in Cairo in late June and the record annex isn't ready yet. Neither are all records available to be researched. The courthouse is in a state of upheaval do to the recent political changes and remodeling. So sorry its not very researcher friendly at the moment. They just don't have the staff at present to get it all done. I would wait till a later date to request records and to go there. Ditto -- I must have missed the post about the annex. Sounds like an exciting development!
