I have been told that Provo Cemetery in the same area has been cleaned up by prisoners of the state, but they are not allowed to cross private property. The Cairo Library has a list of tombstones in Hazelwood of which I have a list. I would like to see this cemetery cleaned up also.

It is about 5-6 miles north of Mound City, IL. Actually it is off to the east of Rt 37. It used to be a thriving town many many years ago, but now it is just a location. I had family there and I still have some friend that live there. The Veterans Cemetery is at a fork in the highway just south of Mound City and Mounds. There are two cemeteries on the north side of Mounds. One is really old (west side of Rt 51. There is another one on the west side of Mounds. I am not sure how to get to it, tho.
