Good afternoon, In the book "Portrait and Biographical record of Adams County Illinois" page 440 states that; James E Downing married Miss Margaret A. Adams of Ky. whose parents Elijah and Rebecca (Wilkes) Adams emigrated from Ky. to Illinois in 1832. They were early settlers in this section. Mrs. Downing died in 1866 leaving five children; Eliza Ann; Thomas J.;William A,;Frances E,; and Robert E.
