The purpose of this posting is to correct the information about John M. Leapley's children, and from which marriage each of them were born. With that, allow me to introduce myself. I am one of Maud Leapley's MANY Great grandchildren. Faye L. (Leapley) Dieterle was one of Maud's children from her (Maud's) marriage to John Michael Leapley. Faye is my grandmother. Maud was in fact an orphaned child. She was born Maud Russell Coleman (Russell was her middle name) in Kentucky on September 10, 1880. She was adopted by the J.B. House family and accompanied them when they moved to Siloam Springs, IL. J.B. House became the owner/operator of the Forest Hotel, in Siloam Springs. She met and married George Leroy Johnson who worked there in her father's hotel/restaurant. They were married May 6, 1897 in Baylis, IL. Between them they had 4 children, all 4 were born in Siloam Springs, IL: 1- Esther May Johnson who married Harvey Glenn Bullard 2- Russell Johnson who married Hazel Kestner 3- George Johnson who married Esther McPhail 4- Herbert Leroy Johnson who married Alice Alexander George LeRoy Johnson died Sep 5, 1905 due to gangrene from a leg injury from a horse cart accident. She married John Michael Leapley on December 29, 1908. John Michael Leapley had 3 children from his previous 11-year marriage to Lizzie Dennis. These 3 children are: 1- Leta Leapley who married Delbert Deege 2- Jesse Leapley who married Frank Liery 3- Henry Leapley The day Maud and John Michael Leapley were married, they started their family with the 7 aforementioned children. They then had these 5 children: 1- Faye L. Leapley who married John F.Dieterle 2- William K. Leapley who married Alice DeWitt 3- Clara Leapley who married Edward Parker 4- Helen Leapley, who married Donald Stevens. 5- Frances Leapley who married Delbert Leeper Maud Russell Coleman-House-Johnson-Leapley was 89 years old when she died on December 11, 1969. She was preceded in death by 1 son, Russell Johnson; and she was survived by 5 daughters, 3 sons, 3 step-children, 37 grandchildren, & 73 great-grandchildren.
