Long hunters were pioneer men who made long journeys into unexplored territory, mostly westward, hunting for game.Family stories are that Coonrod Pile and probably his older sons, Jacob and Daniel, knew David (Davy) Crockett and his family.He immigrated to Fentress Co, TN in 1791.Had a large family and amasseda fortune. Was a gun manufacturer, owned land and slaves. Built aturnpike road from Jamestwon to Monroe, TN.
