Someone from Winipeg emailed me years ago about her great grandfather George Welfelt who said there was a story about a Joseph Welfelt from Freeport, IL who ran away with an Indian woman. She had the birthdate of my great grandfather, but my great grandfather was not the one who ran away with the Indian woman. The male names seem to be repeated each generation so it is confusing. Although your guy looks just like my great grandfather, they must not be brothers, perhaps cousins. I wish I had time to do more research. The free stuff from Ancestry makes it appear that my great grandfather or his father had an alternate last name...Vallerchamp. That seems interesting. Anyway, I don't have a chart or anything to figure out which of these men with the same names were in a particular generation.
