ok one more thing for the evening and out of here to bed. fowler, poloma, coatsburg, camp point, clayton, timewell, and then mt sterling which is in brown county. two miles after camp point you turn north and go to golden. at coatsburg go north and go to bigneck. now that is a peak and plum town peak around the corner and plum out of town. lol that is hwy 61 which you turn back left or west and then you come to lorraine after you turn north about a mile off the hwy. which is 5 miles from bigneck. as long as you stay on 61 you will come into mendon. and at mendon stay on 61 the old road it looks like you will go to ursa and then at ursa you go south on hwy 96 back to quincy. so there is a bit of history about the roads in adams county. which are still there just a few added roads for progress. so happy hunting catch you all tomorrow. nite now Linda oh by the way I now live In Little Rock Ar. Mindy wrote:I know what you mean. This hockey of adding new roads, getting rid of others and changing the directions is for the darn birds. I went this way to a friends house frequently within the past 2 months. This is how I know to get there and yes, you pass the fairgrounds now. Hwy 336 is the new addition. Guess its the price of progress huh? LOL Mindy Adams & Pike Co., IL Genealogy Host http://www.iltrails.org/adams/index.html http://www.iltrails.org/pike/index.html "Never argue with idiots. That part of the country was just fine and still is fine with out all this new hwy garbage. LOL I miss being home but get to come back once in a while. I have a few family members left up there. Miss the old gang a lot. It used to be to go to Lorraine you go by the fair grounds or go up through Ursa or has that changed to. That's where my dad was raised....and we still have family that live there....on the same farm that our Irish ancestors imigrated to in the late 1860s. :-) But you're right....it is a tiny little place....but judging from the old newspaper clippings that I've read, and the number of men who were from Bigneck on an Adams County military roster that I saw one time, it must have been quite a bit bigger at one time!
