Illinois. His wife was Etta / Margarethe / Margaret Habben Schoen, b. 01 Jun 1817, Germany. The 1870 census indicates Berget J. Shon and his wife are at Keokuk Junction, Northeast Twnshp. I cannot locate either of them in the 1880 census so am wondering if they died 1870-1880. Their son John, b. 1844 Germany, d. 1923 Adams Co. Illinois is listed in Boyken, however Borchert and Ette are not in Boyken, so maybe they died before 1882 (first publication of the Nachrichten/Boyken). I have seen the Schoen name spelled as Schoon, Schoen, Shoon, Schone. I have seen the name Borchert, spelled as Berget, Burchardt, Burghard, Boerchert . . .
