Richard Raymond Brown, 78, of 2049 Cherry Street, died in his home Tuesday night at 6:45 o'clock. He was born in Cherry Valley, Ill, June 25, 1865, a son of John and Hannah Marie Packard Brown, and had lived in Quincy since 1924. He was a member of the Methodist church and was married to Lillian J. Poppham, October 20, 1893, in Beloit, Wis. Surviving are the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Marvel McLaughlin of Quincy; a brother, John Brown of Cherry Valley; a grand-daughter, Mrs. Carl Strothoff of Quincy, and a great-grandson, Carlyle Strothoff, of Quincy. I had a hard time finding anything on Lillian Brown. I think the one you gave the date for, 9-16-1944, is not actually the one you want. I found the following obit in the 9-17-1944 edition of the Quincy paper: Miss Lilly Brown, 76, of Anna Brown home, died in the home Saturday morning, at 7:30 o'clock. She had been a resident of the home since July 1925. Miss Brown was born in Quincy, July 24, 1868, a daughter of David G and Mary Bywater Brown. A brother, Walter Brown, and a sister, Mary Emma McNally preceded her in death. In the next days paper, under the funeral announcements, I found: Funeral services for Miss Lillian Brown will be held Tueday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Daugherty Memorial. Interment in Woodland cemetery. Friends invited. I just checked my cemetery books and Richard and Lillian Brown are buried at Greenmount Cemetery. Richard R. Brown is listed as 1865 - 1944 and Lillian J. Brown is listed as 1872 - 1949. I can see if I can find them when I'm in Quincy next week. I will let you know.
