    3. Do you have this cemetery book or books? Or have access to them . I am looking for my Hess family. My gg-grandfather and some of his children lived near Meyer, Adams Co. IL. I know where he, James G. ( probably George) HESS and his wife Mary E., a Cherokee, are buried, but wonder if any other family is buried in Adams Co., IL My grandmother has told me that he and quite a few brothers and one sister came to America from Germany. It is believed that he was a fur trader at one time. His son John David Hess was my g-grandfather. Would love to find an obit for both gg-grandparents. The picture of their tombstones looks as if James died possibly in 1913 and Mary died May, perhaps the 2nd, 1917. Mary was either born in June 1832 or 1852. I've never been to the cemetery but have a picture of their tombstone. Other living children of James and Mary at the time of the death of my g-grandfather, John David Hess, were Otto HESS and Mrs. Belle MURRAY, of La Salle, IL. John David's obit states the family lived thirty years on a farm near Meyer. John David Hess later moved to Canton, MO where my grandmother was born. Would appreciate any help. Did find a Kennie, but he was only a year old. He died 21 Sept.,1863; s/o D.T. & M.F. McCoy; aged 1 yr, 7mo, 12 d., buried in Old West Side Cem, Clayton. > Did find this: > Clayton was founded by 3 McCoy brothers, Charles, Rev. Reuben, and John. Daniel McCoy, the father, was born in Scotland on Nov 15, 1767, died Feb. 23, 1836. It is the belief that the McCoy family started or donated the land for the cemetery (this cannot be confirmed by county records). The town was established in 1834. > Sorry I couldn't find the people you were looking for.
