    3. Chatton A small hamlet in Houston Township, on th northern border of the county, is Chatton. A description of the hamlet writte more that sevety-five years ago contained these words: "There is a railroad station on the east side of the township called Chatton, in honor of B.I. Chatton of Quincy. The station comprises one store owned by Joseph W. Strickler, and the residence of James E. McDavitt, Esq., late supervisor." Chatton is the only community of Houston Twonship, which has a total population of 520. The township was named after General Sam Houston of Texas. This bit of information came from the book of "This is Adams County, Illinois by John Dury. this a Quote from this book which Chatton was discussed some time ago thought it would be interesterting to all who talked about it.
