Denise, Thanks so much for responding. The Reinhold Mueller in the Quincy Directory is my great-great-grandfather. But the one in the 1870 census probably isn't the same guy. Rather, my great-great-grandfather appears in the 1880 census as Reinhardt Miller. I know he came to Quincy from Syracuse, NY (I don't know yet when), and winds up back in Syracuse sometime between 1880 and 1896 (my guess is around the mid 1880s, based on the 1900 census, which indicates he remarried around 1885), but that's what I'm trying to figure out. An image of what I found is below. I also found an 1870 census listing for Reinhold when he was 17 years old living with his parents and siblings in St. Louis. One of Reinhold's sister's name was Louise. Perhaps your grandmother was named after her. Reinhold's father's name was Anton and his mother was Ginna. Both of them were born in Baden, Germany. Anton was 46 and Ginna 47 in 1870. Anton was working in a stone quarry. Anton valued his real estate at $2500 and his personal property at $120 Don't know if these are the right people or not. Have you tried checking out the census data that is available? I do find other census data available for Reinhold Mueller. As far as William, not as much luck. There is a William Mueller of Quincy that was born Nov. 30 1868 but he had different parents -- not Reinhold. Hope this helped.
