Bob, William Laughlin is a very interesting person and public figure in Adams County. I don't know what sources you have on William? I have collected twelve different sources. William served in the Illinois House of Representatives, Twelfth Illinois General Assembly, 1840-42 in the Old State Capital with Abraham Lincoln. He was a Justice of the Peace in Adams County, I have found documentation of other ancestors who was married by him. 1853 he served on the Board of Supervisors. William in January 1856 with two other men was appointed by the Board of Supervisors to to select a larger farm and more suitable buildings for the Adams County poor Farm. I've just recently found out that his wife is Addisa Forsyth. I have no other information on her. I only know of two of their children, John William and Benjamin. William's father is John Wilson Laughlin, born 29 Mar 1772 in MD. He died 17 Jan 1849 in Mendon Twp. He is buried in the New Providence Cemetery. The children of John are: a. William b. Wilson c.
