I am new to this list. I am searching for a Cyrus Smith - who married Hedessa Laughlin about 1860. Hedessa was the daughter of William Laughlin (of Mendon) and Hedessa Forsythe. The Laughlin's lived in Mendon and are buried there. I'd like to learn more about this marriage and about what happened to Hedessa and Cyrus. Particularly I need to know more about Cyrus' line. He is my gggrandfather. I have heard that Cyrus Smith was one of the first boys born in Adams County - Quincy - around 1830. I believe his mother was Sophronia Rankin Smith - No idea on his father. Also read that Sophronia and her husband died of Cholera and left Cyrus an orphan - where he was raised by George Pollard in Adams Co and another uncle in KY. If this sounds familiar with anyone - I'd sure like to learn more about what you have.
