The sixth child of Issac Askew and Mahala Allen Askew was Jane Askew. Born 1825 (Sumner Co., TN) or 1824 - Green Co., KY (Census). On 11 Sep 1838 when Jane was 13, she married William Lawson II, son of William Lawson & Nancy Unknown, (they are buried in Starkey Cemetery, New Salem Twp., Pike, IL.) in Pike County, IL. He was a Civil War veteran (1st LT.- 78th IL Inf- Co. E- MO- 7 Jun 1865) from Beverly, Adams Co., IL, and applied for disability on 18 May 1883 in IL. I can't find them in Pike Co., IL Census. Did they have any children? They would have been in the 1850/1860 Censuses, and I suspect they were in Beverly Twp., as that's where he enlisted. Any help appreciated. Peg Spencer
