The Soldiers and Sailors home had a series of reports written about it which are abstracted..the full reports can be found in the Illinois State Library Centennial Building Springfield, Illinois 62756. They are known as the 1887-1916 Biennial Reports. Stephen was admitted March 29 1898 at about 64 years of age. He was a widow at this time. He appears on the 1900 census for the home as age 66. He was a member of the 87th Illinois Infantry Co H and was mustered out as a corporal June 16 1865 There was another Thrash at the hone...James W. who was admitted July 28 1899 and had the ID # 4914 In the Illinois death database, there is no Thrash before 1916 period and there is a Stephen D. Thrash listed for April 24 1922...age unknown...death in Quincy Adams County. Other info about Steohen in the home records said he was born in or of German descent. He served in the war 33 months and was getting a pension of $12 a month. His disability was a hydrocele. He was living in Cook county when he was admitted. He was able to read and write and worked aas a laborer. He had been a farmer when he went into the service. He was a resident of Wabash county at the time of enlistment..age 27, height 5 -9 3/4 and had black hair with dark eyes and dark complexion. He was married when he joined. He joined in Albion, Il Aug 14 1862 and mustered in Sept 22 1862 in Shawneetown, Illinois and mustered out in Helena, Ar by Capt Newcome. I am including a couple of photos, I found also...
