I am hunting for anything that I can find on a Quincy resident who vanished in 1920. He was my Grandfather Roy V. Flick. At one time he was a policeman at Quincy. He was put in the workhouse for non-support of his children. He then abandoned them, and was apparently married to two or three women at the same time. Someone told us he drowned in the Mississippi River in the late 30's or early 40's. We can find no record of that anywhere. Is there a kind soul out there who could suggest how we might find some record of him? He susposedly was a foundry worker. Does anyone know of a foundry at Quincy where he may have worked? He was not a shining example of a good human I know, but yet I'd like to find out what may have come of him before I die. Eddy A. Flick
My sister-in-law was Donna Jean Flick. Her parents are Lewis and Gertrude Flick from Liberty. Lewis and Gertrude have five children: Gerald lives in St. Charles, Missouri, Donna and Frank Jr. Voss live between Fowler and Mendon, Darlene (Wietholder) live in Mendon, Carl lives in Mendon, and Karen (Crossland) lives in ?. I am Sister Janet J. Voss, a daughter of Frank H. and Afnes E. Frese Voss. Try the Freiburg funeral home book from the Great River Genealogical Society. It may have listed a Flick in it. I do not have the book with me at the present time nor the obituary for Lewis. I will look it up in my information. Leqwis had a brother Ambrose and most of the Flick's are buried in St. Brigid's Catholic Cemetery in Liberty, Illinois. I will show the e-mail to Donna and see if she has heard or know's anything about Roy. Sister Janet J. Lewis and Ambrose also had a sister Selma, who married Ed WINDIFFER. Their parents were Albert (b. 29 Oct 1883, d. 28 Nov 1975) and Sadie KALTENBACK (b. 05 Jan 1888, d. 24 Feb 1974). As the KALTENBACK branch is the one that ties to my (STOLTE) family, I don't have any further information on the FLICK line. Sadie's parents were buried at St. Brigid, so that adds to the connection. Would be interesting to know if Albert was related to Roy. I'll look forward to any additional information!
