    3. Hi Margaret, That obituary is available in the Quincy Newspaper Archive, accessed via the Quincy Public Library's website. It was published in the Quincy Daily Whig, 8 January 1885. It appears on page 8, about half way down column 3. This obituary is not very long, but it does have some great detail in it. It tells where he died, his age, where he was born and it also implies that he was a member of the Odd Fellows, Druids and IOMA. Some great clues for further research! http://archive.quincylibrary.org/Archive/skins/QPL/navigator.asp?BP=OK&AW=10 88802815968 If you have any trouble accessing it, let me know. Happy Hunting! 1. [ILADAMS] Obituary Loolup PLEASE on Jacoby HALLACK
    2. Michael Reger
    3. My GGGGrandfather was Jacoby HALLACK. The following notice was posted in an Ohio newspaper about him: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Death of Col. Hallack. - - The Quincy Illinois Whig announces the decease, at that place, of Jacoby Hallack, Esq. formerly of Lebanon. Source: The Western Star, 1840 (the Ohio newspaper) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I believe the date of death was on or about 22 September 1840. (I have this information from the LDS website records.) Is there anyone who can tell me anymore about this? Is there an obituary notice in old editions of the Whig? Is there a better place for me to ask these sorts of questions? Any/All help is gratefully appreciated. Mike

    3. Thank you Teresa for helping me get to the obituary. I appreciate it very much. Is it probable that there is a more complete obituary if I keep searching for it?
