I'm sure the one in Quincy was similar. http://www.granthome.com/market_house.htm Your Baltzer (Balthazar) Meckes was born 15 Oct 1849 in Gilmer Township and died 08 Nov 1899 in Quincy. His wife was Ida Banks. His parents were Jacob Meckes and Catherine Wilhelm. They came from Maikammer in the Rheinland-Pfalz area of Germany. They arrived in New Orleans on 19 Apr 1847 from LeHavre, France on board the "Taglioni" with their children Margaret, Mary, Joseph and a baby who was probably Catherine though it is listed as another Joseph.
