Does anyone know if there is a picture available of the Christian Science Church at 18th & Vermont in Quincy? Or, would someone be willing to take a picture of it and email it to me? My great-grandfather was the general contractor and my grandfather was a carpenter on it. I'd like to put a picture in my family book. Thanks for any help. My email is: lois_heath@yahoo.com.

I will be traveling to Wisconsin at the end of next week (unfortunately not close enough to Merrill to check in person)but I hope to get some time with my Mom (in a nursing home) and her sister, my aunt to see if any of this jogs any memories or if it fits what they do know. The one in La Crosse looks good however it is quite a ways away from Merrill, especially given the travel methods of teh day. Check death records in Vernon Co WI for William B. Slade's record (he last appears on 1880, his wife Mary appears to have died 1876). Microfilm in library might hold old papers for obits (Vernon Co WI rootsweb is giving me a lockout right now so I can't see what resources might be available for you to check and where in that county) Adella appears to have had a twin brother, Adelbert "Harry" Slade, also brothers Clement and Warren. A search for the Marshall's death records in Lincoln Co WI and a look for obits might be helpful on moving back on the Marshall part. Do you know the names of the Marshall siblings who went West 'never to be heard from again'? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. He would be William Lazarus Marshall and she was Elizabeth Adella Slade (or Adella Elizabeth)the had three children, Mary, Fred and Walter. He may have been a Post Master in the Merrill, WI area late 1800s early 1900s. She might have run a boarding house. We don't have any information before them other than the Slades may have come from England by way of New York. He had three brothers that left, apparently to follow a gold rush, never to be heard from again. I am guessing that William and Elizabeth would have been born around 1865 to 1870. Fred, my grandfather was born in 1893. Any help would be greatly appreciated. cjentlie@cox.net Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Two of her boys, Robert and Curtis Speaker(my grandfather) made several trips to Germany, at some point bringing back dogs. Mom tells me they worked as in merchant marines. Young and adventurous, I guess. Mom has fond memories and pictures of some of the dogs. She grew up on the farm in Farmer, Ohio and has many stories told by her Grandma Rosa. Thanks for the contact info on Deschutes Co. What is your connection to this family? I live relatively close to Defiance County if you have photo or research requests, I can get yours while I work on my own.
