    3. Is there anyone on the list that would be willing to do some obit lookups in Adams County and a couple in Hancock County. I have all the death dates Please email me if interested. I do not mind paying a little bit or maybe we can do a lookup trade. I can not pay $10.00 per obit like one person quoted me. Thank you Shawnnee

    3. Suzanne -- It's possible that we have a connection -- I just don't know. All I know is that my ansestor (Jane Mullen) was born in 1839, and that she had two sisters that came with her to America, named Mary and Eliza. Their mother came too -- her name was Alice. The girls father's name was Thomas, but he did not come with them to America. I don't know if he wasn't living anymore, or if he sent his family ahead. Most of the written info I have spells her name Mullen, but I have a copy of Henry & Jane Donnelly's marriage license, and her last name is spelled Mullin. If any of this info matches yours, please let me know! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Suzanne Schroeder Enlow" <kdesme@essex1.com> To: <ILADAMS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, August 08, 2002 7:45 PM Subject: Re: [ILADAMS] Mullen / Mullins > I have a Mary Ellen Mullins / Mullen (have seen it spelled both ways) b. > abt. 1845 married a Caleb Embree in Adams Co. I'm kind of saddened and surprised to see that. As we decided long ago, Fred's work was rife with error and supposition, not the least amongst which is the convoluted story of Tom's first 2 wives, and I would think that you might want something a little more current than his 1939 tally of just 350 MCCargars...I have expanded Fred's Roster to include more than 2300 of Tom's descendants--a compilation based on data and research that was, for the most part, not available to Fred. You, yourself, made an important contribution to my understanding of the McCargar history, and I have cited that effort, although not, perhaps, to your satisfaction...can this be fixed? Why don't we bury the old hatchet and actively collaborate, again? I would be more than happy to send you a complete copy of the revised and expanded McCargar Roster, if you want it. It is still arranged, just as Fred would hav! e done it, with his McCargar Code, and I have no plans to abandon it...One other thing, I am personally convinced, from all the data that I have, that Rebecca was NOT Tom's wife, but Joseph's. I would be very interested in any documentation you may have that would disprove my theory...can we start a discussion of this? I remain your cousin/nephew, and I miss hearing from you... Dennis

There is a link to Adams County in this family. Pasted on one page is the obit of one Mrs. Amy Garvin, age 82, who died 1871 and the handwritten note, "Quincy, Ill". My friend wants to put this info into the hands of a Garvin descendant, and at this time would consider sending the whole Bible to anyone who is a known descendant and would pay the postage.

    3. I just thought others in the Illinois area would be interested in this Missouri database which is now online. Not many births/deaths were recorded prior to 1900, so you might not be able to find much, but every little bit helps. Lois Heath From: Archive Volunteers To: "'lois_heath@yahoo.com'" Subject: Missouri Birth and Death Records Database is Available Online Date: Tue, 6 Aug 2002 14:48:00 -0500 I would like to announce that the Missouri Birth and Death Records Database is available online at http://www.sos.state.mo.us/archives/resources/birthdeath/. This database is the result of the efforts of over 300 volunteers working on this project since 1999. The database currently contains over 185,000 records from 87 counties.
