I need one obit. It is for Gerard Broeckers. He married my Great Grandmother in July 21, 1952 and died September 8, 1852. His death may be in one of the German newspapers available at that time. Would it be possible for you to look? Thank you, Marie
My dad, who is 87 now, and I had a discussion about another river he used to walk across. Though not as big a the Mississippi. He said most rivers froze in Winter. There were NO power plants which generate heat into the river waters. He said, in fact, part of the reason power plants are on rivers is to use the water to cool equipment. So most rivers water temperatures are higher once the water is pumped back into the river at a warmer temp. Thus changing not only the temp, but environment for fish, plants, etc. Please visit the web site I created with my students http://www.geocities.com/midwestinstitute Also visit my Indiana Orff Schulwerk (music and movement education) web site. http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Delphi/6131

Jane gave birth to 9 children and it is believed that she died in childbirth. She died in January 1886 in Mandyville, Carol County, MO. She was the daughter of Thomas Benson but I'm afraid I have no other information on my great-great grandfather.

Alice, I have tried several times to get things on inter-loan with the Allen County Library & was told that they do not do inter-loans with other libraries. Bobbie
Hello, Can you tell us about how far back the old newspapers go? Thanks John Hello! If you haven't been able to get the Young obituaries you need, we are willing to look for them in the old newspapers that are kept on microfilm at the Quincy Public Library. Just let us know! ______________________________
Thank you for your very kind offer! I did write to the Library recently and they have said that they or the Great River Gen Society will do the lookups. Have a great day! Kathy Klobas Vacaville, CA
Thanks alot Judy. I have checked with the FHL, they don't have it. I'll have to check out The Allen Co Library. Do you know if they do interlibrary loans? I'll have to dig for that. I remember him growing up in Quincy in the 40-50s. He was a franciscan father at I believe St. Francis church. He could have been at Qcy College, but don't think so. I'll look in my pile of Qcy souvenirs and see if I can find anything. Thanks, Lois. I'd really appreciate that. Bud
