Also, there is some confusion on this now, because a re-check of records shows his name as Stratton, not Reed. His sister (my gg-grandmother Jane Stratton) married a Robert Reed. Our record shows Strattons' studio in Plainview, near Quincy.

I have an Elmer Warning in my family. He married my great grandmother's sister Kathryn "Kate" Meyer. Elmer was born 7/24/1892 in Illinois and died 12/19/1974 in Ursa, IL. I do not have Elmer's parents as of this time. Do you think this could be the same family? The Meyer family is my direct line. My gggrandmother was Margaret Polite and her obit said she was born in Adams County but I have been unable to find any information on her in Adams County so I am very much interested in your Politte family. My Polite was Margaret and she had a brother Andrew and a sister Anna Marie. Andrew and Margaret ended up in Hancock County Illinois. I know Macoupin Co. has an index of early births (up to 1881); I checked there the other day, and found about half a dozen Culps listed, but no Henry. If they're having to search thru their books, it may take a while. And you're right about births not always being recorded; my grandfather & 3 of his siblings' births are on record, but not the other 4. Go figure. Anyway, good luck. Libby
